EEI Corporation to build PHP15.7-B MICE project in Pasay, largest in SEA

Manila, Philippines—Leading construction company EEI Corporation recently received the Notice of Award from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the design and construction of Phase 1 of the Philippine International Exhibition Center (PIEC), a government project that will help position the country as a premiere destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) in Asia. The project has a total contract price of PHP 15.7 billion and will rise in Pasay Harbor City, the newly reclaimed island in Manila Bay.

With a gross exhibition area of 269,000 square meters, it is set to become the largest exhibition and convention center in Southeast Asia.

“The Philippine International Exhibition Center is a massive project that is poised to make a meaningful contribution to the economy. It marks a pivotal milestone for all of us in EEI, and we are honored and excited to support the government in bringing this vision to life. This project reinforces the path our Company is taking - one driven by expansive opportunities, greater impact, and a future shaped by shared ambition and bold progress,” said Henry D. Antonio, EEI President and CEO.

The PIEC is a key infrastructure project that supports the government’s commitment to strengthening the competitiveness of the country’s MICE sector. Its construction is expected to contribute to trade promotion, tourism development, foreign investments, and economic development.

“We are indeed excited that such an important building project of the President, his excellency President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has been awarded to EEI Corporation. This will be an opportunity for us to showcase Filipino creativity and overall strength of the construction industry in the Philippines, although recognizing some materials that we will inevitably have to import, we are conscious to maximize Filipino content in the building of this iconic landmark. Truly, this will showcase Filipino talent,” Antonio added.

The Phase 1 of the project will include the detailed engineering and design, foundation, and architectural and structural works of the PIEC. It will serve both local and international events, boosting the country’s presence in the world exhibitions arena.

The issuance of the PIEC contract to EEI highlights the government's drive for strategic infrastructure investments under the overall vision to bolster the Philippine economy. It also showcases EEI as a reliable partner in nation-building through the delivery of flagship development projects.
