2012 EEI Tree Planting at La Mesa Watershed
The EEI Corporate Safety, Health, Environment, and Security Department once again organized a tree-planting activity in cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources. The activity was held last September 29, 2012 at the La Mesa Watershed. A total of 130 employees participated and 1500 seedlings of various indigenous plant species were planted.











EEI Joins Annual YGC Tree Planting Activity
EEI joined the annual YGC tree-planting event last September 22, 2012 at the mountains of Barangay San Andres in Tanay, Rizal, the site of the YGC Centennial Forest.

The YGC Centennial Forest covers 100 hectares designated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and under the care of the Samahang Tribu ng San Andres, a community NGO. In this year's activity, twenty hectares of denuded forest land were replanted with seedlings of narra, acacia, molave and other sturdy trees. Over 230 volunteers from various YGC member companies such as RCBC, Malayan Insurance, House of Investments and Mapua Institute of Technology participated. YGC also donated funds for the construction of three toilets at the San Andres barangay hall.

YGC will fulfill its 3-year commitment to replant the entire 100-hectare area of its Centennial Forest, and EEI will be at the forefront of the effort, as it has been every year.





Disaster Relief: Typhoons Pedring, Quiel, and Sendong
In response to the devastation caused by typhoons Pedring, Quiel, and Sendong, EEI requested donations from its employees and lent trucks to assist private organizations in bringing relief goods to many of the hard-hit areas.

For typhoons Pedring and Quiel, EEI went to areas in Bulacan, Pampanga, and Nueva Ecija to deliver blankets, clothes, water, toiletries, food, and other relief goods.

EEI representatives went to Calumpit, Bulacan to donate over Php 70,000 worth of water, coffee, noodles, and assorted canned goods like corned beef, adobo, mechado, afritada, and caldereta to two barangays in the areas that were still isolated due to floodwaters. These goods were entrusted to the Rotary Club in Calumpit for proper allocation and distribution to the flood victims.

For typhoon Sendong, EEI and its subsidiaries were able to raise a total of Php 650,000 for the victims which it coursed through the AY Foundation. This does not yet include the donations given by employees from ARCC which reached SR 16,742. In addition EEI sent, through private organizations, over 70 bags and boxes of clothes, shoes, slippers, blankets, toys, noodles, coffee, and canned food to the victims in Mindanao.



Valentines' Blood Letting Activity
Another Blood Letting Activity was organized by EEI together with the Philippine National Red Cross last February 23, 2012.

A total of 55 employees donated blood.














Buhay Rizal
Last July 20, 2012, EEI once more made a contribution to the YGC Buhay Rizal Values Campaign by donating 1000 copies of Jose Rizal's Noli Me Tangere at the San Juan City National High School. As part of the YGC effort to educate today's youth about the works of Dr. Jose Rizal, EEI has partnered with selected public high schools to provide copies of the novel to their junior high school students.

Established in 1969, the San Juan City national High School is the lone public high school in the city. It graduates an average of 700 students yearly.

EEI is committed to be a supportive partner company in bringing the values and teachings of Rizal to the new generations.








EEI Corporation conducted free circumcision in Brgy. Bagumbayan
EEI Corporation together with the Barangay Bagumbayan Council conducted the Oplan "Binata", a free circumcision service for the Barangay Bagumbayan children last May 28, 2011 at the Barangay Bagumbayan Health Center. A total of 51 boys were circumcised and free medicines were provided by the company to facilitate the healing of the newly circumcised children. This activity is one of the Stewardship and Community Building Programs planned for the year-long celebration of EEI's 80th Anniversary.

The program was directed by a team of doctors, headed by EEI Company Physician Dr. Earl Edward Dimamay, in partnership with Brgy. Chairman Dr. Elmer Maturan, Drs. Jeffrey Roxas, Nezzer Soriano, Elizear Taplac, Barbara Eden Mabanto, Neil Semilla, and Ariel Paredes. The project was also successfully carried out with the support of the EEI Officers and volunteer employees.








Blood Letting Activity
As part of the Stewardship and Community Building Programs of EEI's 80th Anniversary, a Blood Letting Activity was organized by EEI Corporation with the cooperation of Philippine National Red Cross at the company clinic last June 8, 2011.

A total of 29 employees were able to donate their blood in this life-saving activity.

The company's blood letting activity began in 2008 when an employee was looking for possible donors intended for his surgery. Soon after, the EEI Clinic and the Human Resources Department incorporated this program as part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility. This activity is geared towards achieving the company's health, safety, and environmental policy: EEI Corporation is committed to the protection of its resources, including employees, and property against human suffering and financial loss.







Batangas Medical Mission
EEI conducted another medical and dental mission for the residents of Barangay Bolo and Barangay Sta.Maria in Batangas. This mi ssion, the second that EEI conducted for this community, took place last July 24, 2010 at EEI Annex Mess Hall at Barangay Bolo, Bauan, Batangas.

Approximately 80 medical and dental professionals and volunteer nurses from various groups and organizations such as Clinika Med Laboratory and Diagnostic Test, Taal Polymedic Hospital and Medical Center, St. Patrick Hospital and Medical Center, SPCare, GENERIKA Drug Store, Municipal Health Office, Philippine National Police, Bauan Medical Society, Batangas Provincial Health Office, and the Office of the Governor participated in this noble activity.

The team offered free medical consultation and was able to cater to almost 300 residents from the two barangays. Patients were given free medicines donated by EEI and the Provincial Health Office through the initative of Governor Vilma Santos-Recto.






This event was also graced by representatives from the Office of the Mayor, Hon. Kelvin Rex D. Gimeno and Hon. Jerome Bantugon Monilla of Sangguniang Bayan, Police Chief Inspector Luisito Cailon Sanchez and members of the Philippine National Police, Barangay Captain of Bolo, Hon. Josephine Gimeno, Barangay Captain of Sta. Maria, Hon. Jose Resty Agena, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), VP for Operations Leon J. Cruz, AVP for Operation Raul Gilbert J. Dela Cruz, VP for Human Resources Divina F. Munji, and Group Supervisor for Human Resource Ireneo C. Roberto.

After the successful program, certificates of appreciation and limited edition mugs were awarded to the volunteers by AVP for Operations Mr. Raul Gilbert J. Dela Cruz and VP for Human Resources Ms. Divina F. Munji. "We thank all the volunteers, medical professionals, and government officials for making this event a success. Without them, this would not have been possible," Mr. Dela Cruz said.

It is EEI's intention to make the medical mission an annual event, to be done every 2nd quarter of the year.







Buhay Rizal
In 2009, a campaign called "Buhay Rizal Values Campaign" was launched by the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC), the purpose of which was to restore Rizalian Pride around the country in line with the belief that the values and teachings of Jose Rizal, our national hero, remain relevant and critical to nation building.

One of the programs of the campaign was the donation of books to various public schools all over the country. In support of the program, EEI and its employees donated 2,270 copies of Noli Me Tangere to Caloocan High School last August, 2009.

Last July 6, 2010, EEI Corporation once again supported the YGC Buhay Rizal Book Donation campaign as it handed over 2,159 copies of Noli Me Tangere books to Batangas National High School.

Principal OIC Pedro Replandor accepted the books in behalf of the school. Teachers and other faculty members were present to witness the event. EEI was represented by AVP Raul Gilbert dela Cruz, together with other EEI officers. Local YGC Council Head BCM Meleccia Rodelas also attended.
